At the foot of the rockery stand Da Chamber and Knowing-Spring Veranda facing each other. The latter was named after Bai Juyi’s famous line “Knowing that the spring breeze arrives early here”. To the north of the veranda grows an assortment of plants. Here also stands a rockery made of Taihu rocks, serving as a screen. In the northeastern corner stands a two-room house, which used to be Yu’s music studio.
Standing here are also Yuezhi Hall, Little Bamboo Gallery and so on. Yuezhi Hall is a three-room house and was once served as Yu lecture room, where he often received his literary friends. The Little Bamboo Room used to be his reading room. Lamps hang at the four corners of the room. Some traditional Chinese paintings portraying his life stories hang on two walls. Laid in one wall is a brick inscription of The Record of the Winding Garden written by Yu Yue.
In 1954, Yu Pingbo, great-grandson of Yu Yue who was also a famous scholar, donated the winding Garden to the government. During the ten years of the Cultural Revolution, the garden was badly damaged. In 1980, Yu Pingbo, Gu Jiegang，Ye Shengtao and many other celebrities called for efforts to repair the garden.. Finally in 1982, the municipal gardening bureau carried out a repair project, during which the gate hall, the sedan hall, the pavilions, houses, rockeries and plants were all restored. Today the Winding Garden is open to the public.
