1. a （whole） new ball game 一個全新的局麵
a completely different situation； something completely different
e.g. Now that you’re here， it’s a whole new ball game.
2. Welcome aboard！ 歡迎加入（對新員工說的歡迎辭）
Welcome to employment at our company. （Invariably said in greeting to a new employee）
e.g. Glad to meet you. Welcome aboard！
3. turn over a new leaf 重新開始（翻開新的一頁）
to begin again， fresh； to reform and begin again （turning to a fresh page： The leaf is a page—a fresh， clean page.）
e.g. I have made a mess of my life. I’ll turn over a new leaf and hope to do better.
4. trade sth. in （for sth.） 以舊換新
return sth. to a place where things are sold， as partial payment toward sth. new
e.g. I just traded in my old car for a brand new one.
5. open to sth. 聽取建議，接納新思想
agreeable to hear or learn about new ideas and suggestions
e.g. The store owner was always open to suggestions from her employees.
6. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. 積習難改（當麵對別人說這句話是不禮貌的）
Someone who is used to doing things a certain way cannot change. （usually not polite to say about the person you are talking to； you can say it about yourself or about a third person）
e.g. Kevin’s doctor told him not to eat starchy food anymore， but Kevin still has potatoes with every meal. I guess you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
