4 Conclusion
English sports news headline has its typical linguistic features， compared to other news styles like political and economic ones. Firstly， the differences are shown in the lexical terms such as the vogue words， preferring to use active verbs and the abbreviation of other words. Secondly， English sports news headline has its own grammatical features， such as using “to do” represent future tense， omitting functional words and so on. Thirdly， sports news headline used a lot of figures of speech， in order to strengthen the liveliness. Since sports news headline should be far from dry and dragged， this feature is very particular in it. With these linguistic features， the English sports news headlines are very fresh and vivid and can easily attract readers’eyes.
