Frequently involved in the world expos，China gets more ambitious and asks itself：could we host a successful world expo in Shanghai？ As early as 1984，Wang Daohan，the mayor of Shanghai put forward the idea of hosting the World Expo and had discussed its theme，venue，number of visitors and other issues.The Shanghai Municipal Government organized human and material resources and conducted research and held numerous discussions.In 1999，the head of the Bureau of International Exhibitions，Liu Fugui，announced that the Chinese Government supported Shanghai's bid to host the 2010 World Expo.In December 2002，at the 132nd general assembly of the Bureau of International Exhibitions，representatives of the member states of world expo went through four rounds of voting.China eventually won the right to host the event with 54 votes，and Shanghai became the host city of 2010 World Expo.
The preparation took more than seven years for theme deduction，venue and auxiliary project constructions.Local people have dedicated themselves to the World Expo，with support from other national groups.'Bring me a stage and I'll give back a splendid world'is Shanghai's commitment to the world；this valuable historical experience will be definitely written into the history of Shanghai.
