學習，這個與人類生命同步的古老話題，隨著時代發展著、延續著，網絡的崛起，使它再一次熱點迭出、思潮湧動。
當我用鍵盤“寫”完這部書稿時，既感到如釋重負，又為自己能用計算機寫作而感到欣慰。我畢竟是一位年過半百的網民。就在五年前寫作拙作《麵對銀色浪潮》時，我還隻能用傳統的紙筆，孤燈細字，寒來暑往，其中甘苦一言難盡。相比之下，不可同日而語。
記得也是在幾年前，有一次我去電視台做嘉賓，點評一位“網蟲”和一位傳統學者就“網上讀書與傳統讀書”話題的討論。兩位先生各抒己見，難以說服對方。我的評判發言是也隻能是傾向於傳統學者的。說實在的，我當時對網絡的認識並不深，“網蟲”的很多提法當時我不甚了了。但網絡時代就在這樣一些不經意的事情中或強或弱地衝擊著我，促使我在學習與研究中對網絡的認識日漸深入。
本書的寫作發端於2001年在濟南召開的中國社會學學會年會上，年逾花甲的著名社會學家鄧偉誌教授出人意料地做了一場十分前衛的關於網絡社會問題的學術報告，意識超前，思想敏銳，極具衝擊力。與鄧先生相比，我自慚形穢。開會回來後，我把鄧先生的報告和我的感觸與同行進行了交流。經過一個階段的資料準備，我開始了網絡社會問題的研究。幾年來，通過與網絡和計算機的親密接觸，我走進了一個全新的信息世界，我的心理年齡變得年輕了，我進一步理解了鄧偉誌先生在濟南那飛揚的心聲。
我們正在走向社會主義和諧社會，因此必須將學習融入社會生活，使文明與知識需要共生共榮。正如社會學家、《網絡社會的崛起》作者曼紐爾·卡斯特所說：我們已經邁進了一個真正多元、互相依賴的世界，因而唯有從彙集了文化認同、全球網絡化與多向度政治的多元視角出發，方有可能理解和改革這樣的世界。

需要說明的是，這部書稿從寫作到出版長達4年之久，相對於迅猛發展的網絡技術，書稿內容時有滯後之感，為努力追趕時代進步的足跡，對於書稿的修改從未停歇，即使如此，仍然有望塵之憾。所幸的是書稿得到了謝澤明、於雲才、李天明、李愛國、張健剛、李文諾、劉洪先、楊榮亮等專家學者的幫助和指正。他們在百忙中審閱了書稿並提出了建議，感恩之情，難以忘懷。

Brief introduction of the Author
Liu Tongchang，male，native of Qingdao，China。 Graduated from the Nor-mal University of Beijing，received bachelor s degree。Now he is a Research-fel-low works in Qingdao Academy of Aocial Science，and he is the commissioner of committee of Shandong Province demographic experts，standing director of Shan-dong institute of sociology，the special researcher of Taiwan Tsinghua University。
Now his master research direction：the social problem，society guarantees，old-age sociology。 He has taken charge of and completed a lot of research projects of city s＆province s。Many of them have been paid at tention to by leader of higher authorities。Since 2000，there are 12 pieces of research reports were writ-ten instructions or comments by leader。T he related contents were adopted by su-pervise section and listed to the leader s decision。Moreover，great majority re-search reports had been published in city s newspapers or periodicals of state and regional，and produce good results。After the monograph of《Face expanding Aged population in China》was published，American scholar translated it from Chinese to English on American press，that also made certain influence in the U-nite States。T he author engaged in the social problem studies，paying at tention to the hot problem and difficulty in society，more than 200 research achievements of his have been published，several of them were awarded a prize in the appraisal of city social science excellent fulfillments。He attend the international and domestic theories seminar for many times，and all times be invited to make the conference speech。In 2002，he gave a conference-lecture on sixth world-agedness-fund con-ference was convened in Bosie，Australia，and interviewed by SBS broadcasting station of Australia。In 2004，he made academic visit at the Hawaiian University and South California University in the United States。Then went to Japan and Mexico on a tour of observation。
