Goods and Purchasing(1)(3 / 3)

Some people say that using credit forces them to save.Money just seems to burn a hole in some people's pockets1.They dribble2 it a way on items of little value.Even people who do not have the willpower to save usually manage somehow to pay their debts.By using credit they force themselves to spend their money for worthwhile things. This makes for a higher standard of living than they would have otherwise. If it were not for credit, fewer consumers would own cars,TV sets, refrigerators, and other appliances.

1.burn a hole in the pocket

2.dribble

(4) Handy,Economical and Better Service

Some people use credit because they claim it is more convenient than paying cash. There is no need to carry large amounts of money with you when you shop.Paying one bill1 for a number of purchases is easier than paying for each one separately.

Sometimes the use of credit may actually save money. For example,a young couple was saving a little of each pay to buy a rug for their apartment. Before they had enough to buy it,a store in town had a sale2 on rugs.By using credit they were able to take advantage of the sale. They got the rug sooner than if they had waited until they could pay cash. They also got it at a lower price.
