My Wife

Robert Louis Stevenson(1850-1894)

The Way Of Love

Ella Wheeler Wilcox(1850-1919)

太陽今日落下,明朝照樣升起;

This is the way of it ,wide world over,

One is beloved,and one is the lover.

One gives and the other receives.

One lavishes all in a wild emotion,

One offers a smile for a life's devotion,

One hopes and the other believes,

One lies awake in the night to weep,

And the other drifts off in a sweet sound sleep.

One soul is aflame with a godlike passion,

One plays with love in an idler's fashion,

One speaks and the other hears.

One sobs,"I love you,"and wet eyes show it,

And one laughs lightly,and says,"I know it."

With smiles for the other's tears.

One lives for the other and nothing beside,

And the other remembers the world is wide.

This is the way of it,sad earth over,

The heart that breaks is the heart of the lover,

And the other learns to forget.

For what is the use of endless sorrow?

Though the sun goes down ,it will rise tomorrow;

And life is not over yet.

Oh,I know this truth,if I know no other,

That passionate Love is Pain's own mother.

I Love you

Ella Wheeler Wilcox(1850-1919)

帶有狂熱欲望的緋紅;

用熱烈的擁抱將我摸觸;

那冷漠無激情的吻並不歸我所有;

I love your lips when they're wet with wine

And red with a wild desire;

I love your eyes when the lovelight lies

Lit with a passionate fire.

I love your arms when the warm white flesh

Touches mine in a fond embrace;

I love your hair when the strands enmesh

Your kisses against my face.

Not for me the cold,calm kiss

Of a virgin's bloodless love;

Not for me the saint's white bliss,

Nor the heart of a spotless dove.

But give me the love that so freely gives

And laughs at the whole world's blame,

With your body so young and warm in my arms,

It sets my poor heart aflame.

So kiss me sweet with your warm wet mouth,

Still fragrant with ruby wine,

And say with a fervor born of the South

That your body and soul are mine.

Clasp me close in your warm young arms,

While the pale stars shine above,

And we'll live our whole young lives away

In the joys of a living love.

A Kiss in the Rain

Samuel Minturn Peck(1854-1938)

偶然與一個情人相遇;

我的勇氣加以阻撓;

偷偷把手指向我的懷裏伸進;

我的心在下明淨;

不管是否會吹風;

我鄙視一切的富貴榮華;

One stormy morn I chanced to meet

A lassie in the town;

Her locks were like the ripened wheat,

Her laughing eyes were brown.

I watched her as she tripped along

Till madness filled my brain,

And then——and then——I know it was wrong——

I kissed her in the rain!

With rain-drops shining on her cheek,

Like-dew drops on a rose,

The little lassie strove to speak

My boldness to oppose;

She strove in vain,and quivering

Her fingers stole in mine;

And then the birds began to sing,

The sun began to shine.

Oh,let the clouds grow dark above,

My heart is light below;

It is always summer when we love,

However winds may blow;

And I'm as proud as any prince,

All honors I disdain:
