Then she sent her army after her, and ordered that everyone she saw be killed, and that she must bring back her daughter. The servant, who had a keen ear, pricked up his ears and heard what she was saying behind his back. 'What shall we do? 'he asked Big Fat. The fat man had his own way, but he only spat a mouthful or two into the back of the cart, and the part of the sea which he had drunk came out into a great lake, in which all the old witch's army was trapped and drowned. The witch heard the report and sent the armored cavalry. But the quick-eyed servant heard the clatter of their armor, and at once took off the blindfold of his companion. This one just glared at the enemy, and their iron armor shattered like glass. The prince's party then proceeded undisturbed. When the marriage ceremony was held in the church, the six servants took leave of him and said, "Your wish has been fulfilled, and you no longer need us." We intend to continue our wanderings and try our luck."
Half an hour from the prince's palace, there was a village, outside which a shepherd happened to be tending a herd of pigs. When they reached the village, the bridegroom said to the bride, "Do you really know who I am? I'm not a prince. I'm a pig herder. The man with the pigs there is my father, and we must do it, too, and be his helpers." Then he took her to a hotel and quietly told the owner to take away their royal clothes during the night. The next morning the princess woke up and had nothing to wear. At that moment, the proprietress brought an old robe and some pairs of old wool socks, and made a generous gesture, saying: "Not for your man's sake, I will not give it to you!" Then she really believed that her husband was a pig herder, so she joined him in herding the pigs, thinking, "I have been so arrogant, I deserve it!" After eight days of this, she could bear it no longer, for her feet were worn. Then some men came and asked her if she knew who her husband was. "Yes," she answered, "he is a swineherd, and has just gone away to work in a small business of stringing." But the men said, "Come with me, and we will bring you to him." And he took her into the palace. As soon as she entered the hall, she saw her husband appearing before her in all his fine clothes, but she did not recognize him until he put his arms around her, kissed her, and said to her, "I have suffered a lot for you, so that you may know what it is like to suffer." At this time, a grand wedding was held. The gentleman who told the fairy tale claimed to be a wedding guest.”
