① win first prize: 贏得頭獎；獲一等獎；得第一名。例：She had luck to win first prize. 她很幸運，贏得了頭獎。Although he oered the test for fun, he won first prize. 盡管他參加這次競賽隻不過是鬧著玩兒而已，卻贏得了頭獎。
② lo: 在這裏是“失敗；輸了；受損失”的意思。例：The delay lost them the battle. 延誤使他們戰敗。The host team lost the football game. 主隊踢輸了足球賽。lo還有“浪費；使沉溺於；使迷路；遺失；錯過”的意思。例：He soon lost himlf in a bestller. 他不久就專心地讀著一本暢銷小說了。I have lost my diary. 我的詞典丟了。They lost themlves iray. 他們在陌生的城市裏迷了路。
③ by weight: 按重量；按重量計算。例：They were charging us by volume rather than by weight. 他們是按體積而不是按重量向我們收費。Here eggs are sold by weight. 在這裏雞蛋是按重量賣的。
