知識要點：1. 用名詞作定語，直接修飾另一名詞的現象並不少見，如post office， lunch time， shoe factory， flower shop等。
2. 阿拉伯數字、英語字母、同一英語詞的多次等，用結尾加’s表示，如two x’s， three A’s， too many but’s， in his 50’s， 3 do’s and 3 don’ts（三要三不要）［但無don’t’s形式］， Mind your p’s and q’s.（注意規矩。）［plea’s和excu me’s的縮略］，1990’s［1990s的書寫法雖不符合傳統，但目前較流行］。
3. 以man和woman結尾的複合詞，一般通過詞尾變化成men和women，來構成複數。但少數詞例外，複數通過詞尾加s構成，如Germans，Romans等。
