Confucius believes that introspection is one of the gentlemen's highest virtues. To know oneself is true progress. Zengzi said,"I daily examine myself several times:Have I been unfaithful in giving counsels to others?Have I been insincere in getting along with others?Have I insincere in getting along with other?Have I reviewed and practiced what my teacher imparted to me?"The philosophy of the wisest men is mainly derived from the act of introspection,which is the best instrument for understanding ourselves. They are able to see not just their world,but within themselves too,so that they came to better know human nature. So,if everyone engages in introspection,can't we make great progress?
儒家認為，善於自省是君子的美德之一。人貴在自省。曾子曰：“吾日三省吾身：為人謀而不忠乎？與朋友交而不信乎？傳不習乎？”賢人的處事哲學普遍都來源於反躬自問，因為自省是我們認識自己的最好方法。賢人不僅能夠了解周圍的世界，而且能夠真正認識自己，客觀而中肯地評價自己。自省讓他們更接近生命的本質，懂得生命的意義。因此，如果我們能夠善於自省自察，怎麼會不取得進步呢？
