第二十節 The Undiscovered Role of Braids(2 / 3)

It is apparent,if you want to move on in life, you have to show initiative。If you do that, you will make mistakes,no matter whether you are in school or already in a job。But even in China,if you act in the right way,it won't be the end。So what do we do when a mistake has been made?

1.The first and most important rule is not to ignore the mistake。Sure, sometimes it may seem the best solution。Maybe nobody will find out。Someone will find out。So face it。Don't try to make it smaller for it only makes you smaller。

2.Analyze what has really happened。How big is the mistake and how can it be fixed?Did you simply react too fast or wrong or were you inattentive? The only precarious problem is a negative attitude to what you do。But even that can be changed。In many personal experiences I learned that if you confess a mistake, the consequences are much smaller than you think。(It often even works when a policeman gives you a ticket。)

3.If you confess, you show two important characteristics, you have courage and you are trustworthy。

4.Now that you have made the decision to confess your calamity to your parents, your teacher or your boss, don't postpone it。Tell it straightforward and apologize。Do not create excuses and do not blame someone else。

5.Do not act too emotional。Not too many want to hear a tearful explanation。

6.If possible also talk about how such a mistake can be avoided in the future。It shows that you have learned by the mistake and it will most likely not happen again。

7.If there is a possible compensation,offer it。

Little tricks are allowed。I remember one day when I was a girl I was standing on the bridge over the river running through our little town。I was watching trout in the stream。Somehow I started playing with a ring my mother had given me not long before。A golden ring with a coral in the middle—and yes,it fell into the river。No way to get it back。Not if,but how,to tell my mother was the question。So I called her and said:“Something terrible has happened。”Pause。My mother, herself a worrying type was threatened—and so relieved when she learned that not I,but only my ring had fallen into the river。
